Lufthansa _Jambo Kenya
I got the opportunity to cover the launch of Lufthansa new Cargo plane to Kenya, named Jambo Kenya. I was the lone company from Kenya selected to cover the event for Lufthansa launching its new Boeing 777. #no pressure. http://lufthansa-cargo.com/en_de/specials/business-reports/main/home/
So was slightly nervous at the size of the task at hand. We doubled up with Jemedari team, Kanyingi and Katts so they could handle the video coverage.
Seeing that it was at the airport with all the security checks, we had to be there for early morning, and started the process of getting security clearance. The security guys at the JKIA security had quite the task trying to get the spellings of our names and Lufthansa correct :-), particularly my company name, Mostaza. We had all sorts of variations from Monthstanza, Monster Cargo as Kanyingi could testify.
Soon the event kicked off, with Jimmy Gathu as the MC, a few traditional dances were on going as we waited for the plane to land. We were then picked up and taken to the airside to capture the landing of the Boeing 777. There wasn’t a take two, so all our settings had to be correct. Its amazing how quick the plane goes out of frame. Once the plane had landed we quickly dashed back to get the plane being going through a process called Water Cannon, the plane passes thro a water canon salute. This is done for new planes (thanks Wambo). There were Maasai warriors to usher the plane in.
All in all a great event here are some of the images captured, let me know what you think.
